Huntington ISD said it has engaged with its community in several ways in recent weeks. On Sept. 22, retired district staff met as a group called "Lifelong Learners." The members shared stories about their years working with children and said they were glad to be a group again.
On Oct. 1, Huntington Middle School held a Donuts with Dad event titled "Real Talk to Build Real Men." According to the district, fathers and father figures heard from law enforcement leaders, coaches and administrators. Topics included gun safety, online gaming and chats, personal boundaries, digital footprints, open communication, integrity and work ethic at school.
The district will hold a Veterans Day program at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 at Huntington High School to honor veterans and their families. The district said more than 600 flags will be flown for the event. The public is invited.
