At its meeting on Monday, Oct. 26, the La Grange City Council took up a request to abandon a utility easement at 1900 W. State Highway 71, next to the AT&T store on the west side of town.
City Manager Jack Thompson said a company that wants to build an urgent care facility plans to buy the property. To build there, the easement would need to be relocated. Thompson did not name the company. Public Works Director Daniel Wilson said the company would dedicate a new utility easement.
Councilwoman Pam Giese asked why the city should abandon the existing easement before the property owner dedicates a replacement.
