First Methodist Church of Breckenridge has hosted a Turkey Dinner for the community every year since 1947, except for a couple of years during the COVID-19 pandemic. The church said the dinner serves as both a fundraiser and an outreach effort. The Breckenridge Texan reported that thousands of meals have been served over the years.

The menu has changed little in recent years, and the meal is offered as either dine-in or take-out. The dinner is scheduled for Nov. 12.

Much of the work happens before the event. Volunteers bake dozens of pumpkin and pecan pies over two days, and they also prepare and label to-go boxes and cover the pies for freezer storage.
