More than 20 North Texas collectors have lent artworks to the exhibition "These Walls Speak" at the Fort Worth African American Museum and Cultural Center. The show is the museum's second exhibition and includes 55 paintings, sculptures and other works spanning nine decades of Black creativity. The museum is at 3100 E. Rosedale St. and opened in mid-June.

Fort Worth attorney Renee Higginbotham Brooks, who has collected Black art for decades, lent four paintings by artists John Biggers, Elizabeth Catlett, Frank Frazier and Jacob Lawrence. Other lenders include Sasha and Edward P. Bass, Leah King and Fort Worth council member Deborah Peoples.

Brooks said she considers it a great honor to take part in showing the work of African American artists, which she described as an important part of American culture.
