Caffe Capri opened in 1995 in Historic Downtown Bryan. Founder Rami Ceroni, a Texas A&M University graduate, serves pasta, salads, soups and desserts on a menu he describes as traditional Italian with some creative twists.

Ceroni said he started the restaurant by putting several credit cards to use when he was 22, and he said the interest on that borrowing was high. He said he did not want to ask his parents for money. He also said competition from local restaurants and chains, including the opening of Johnny Carino's, was a concern at first, but it affected him less as other restaurants opened.

The restaurant added mixed drinks five to six years ago, after serving only beer and wine, Ceroni said. He said takeout cocktails during COVID helped expand the bar, which has grown on weekends. The restaurant is known for its Art Deco design and art wall. Ceroni said he wanted a high-end feel without high-end prices.

Ceroni said he enjoys building relationships with customers, both local and from out of town, and with his staff.
