White-tailed deer hunting season starts this weekend. Many hunters have entered the Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Big Buck Contest and plan to be in their deer blinds Saturday.

Last year's winning buck set a high bar. The 15-point buck scored 166 4/8 under the Boone and Crockett scoring system and won the Lavaca County division. The story said that score may be difficult to beat.
