The Pride of Olney High School Band will compete at the UIL Region 7 North Zone Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls. The Olney band is scheduled to perform at 9:45 a.m., after the Class 2A bands begin the competition at 9 a.m.
The show, titled "PRISM," has five movements and uses music by several artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Irving Berlin, Elton John, and Cyndi Lauper. The music was composed and arranged by Dallas Bayless of Lubbock, and the marching and visual parts were choreographed by Josh Shaw, also of Lubbock.
According to the article, bands receiving first divisions in Classes 2A through 5A will advance to Area competition on Oct. 24 or Oct. 31. Class A bands earning first divisions at the Region level will advance automatically to the UIL State Marching Band Championships in November. Performances are open to the public.
