Amy and Kyle Cooksy were woken by a phone call around 1 a.m. Thursday telling them their BBQ shack in Whitehouse was on fire. Firefighters responded, but the building was a total loss and nothing could be saved.
The couple had run the shack for 12 years, often smoking brisket and pulled pork overnight. Kyle Cooksy works as a paramedic and Amy Cooksy is a teacher. The business was a passion project and side job for Kyle Cooksy, who enjoyed serving the community.
The couple has filed an insurance claim. An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire. The Cooksys said they appreciate prayers and support from the community.
