The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees approved new officers at its Monday meeting. Rich McDowell was named board president, Dr. Leona McDade was named vice president, and Frank Dixon was named secretary.

The moves are the first steps in reforming the board, which remains partly intact after trustees Matt and Sam Slaton resigned within a week of each other.

McDowell said the board has been at the center of public attention in recent months. He said public discussion and debate are part of governance, and that the board should now focus on supporting students. He also pointed to the success of the district's football team, band, cross country teams and academic performance.
