The North Texas Commission hosted the 2026 North Texas Infrastructure Summit in Irving. The event brings together transportation leaders, policymakers and elected officials from across Texas to discuss transportation issues and policies affecting the region.

DCTA CEO Paul Cristina served as a panelist in the session "The Future of Transit in North Texas," along with leaders from DART and Trinity Metro. According to the story, the region's population is expected to grow by 50% by 2050, from 8 million to 12 million people.

Cristina said working with other North Texas agencies is vital to building a multimodal system that connects to the wider regional network. "DFW will need transportation options to accommodate the growth that is coming," he said. Other summit discussions covered transportation policy and funding, infrastructure development and planning for future transit needs. DCTA's member cities include Highland Village, Lewisville and Denton.
