The Town of Northlake approved $35,000 in grants for Chef Lin's Asian Kitchen at its Oct. 9 meeting. The money comes from the town's pioneer grant program, which is meant to encourage new businesses to open in the town.
Council member Alex Holmes said at the meeting, "We're in growth mode and I'm proud when a small business owner chooses to come here." Manager Chen Lin said the grant will help the restaurant with staffing, employee training and marketing. The restaurant is set to open in late December along Robson Ranch Road, near where a new H-E-B will be built.
Head chef Zhiyong Lin has more than 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry, according to the story. The menu will include tradition and fusion Asian dishes such as ramen, sushi, poke bowls, fried rice and Hibachi-style entrees. According to a town presentation, the restaurant will offer dine-in, takeout and online ordering, with about 72 seats in a 3,000-square-foot space. Town documents say it plans to open seven days a week.
