The city and Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful held a tree planting for Texas Arbor Day in memory of a firefighter and paramedic who died in 2020.
Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful and the City of Copperas Cove held a tree planting ceremony at Fire Station 2 as part of their Texas Arbor Day observance on a Wednesday morning. A peach tree was planted at the station.
The event remembered Jose' Negrete, a Copperas Cove firefighter and paramedic. According to the Cove Leader-Press, Negrete died in 2020 from lymphoma at the age of 30.
