SFA Gardens will host Kadin Bieberich, head propagator and retail sales manager at Sunshine Nursery in Clinton, Oklahoma, at 7 p.m. Nov. 12. The talk is part of the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series and will take place in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center. His presentation is titled "Trees you need, but you don't know it yet."
The announcement said Bieberich is a fourth-generation nurseryman who learned horticulture while working with his father and grandfather. His main focus is plant propagation, including testing rootstock for the dry, alkaline soils of the Southern Great Plains. The announcement said the nursery's arboretum reflects more than 50 years of observations of tree species in western Oklahoma's climate.
The lecture is free and open to the public, and a plant raffle follows the program. Donations to the lecture series fund are welcome. Parking is available at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet St., or at Raguet Elementary School, 2708 Raguet St. More information is available by calling (936) 468-4129 or visiting sfasu.edu/gardens.
