Three people, including two contractors working on a Texas Department of Transportation project, were killed early Thursday on Texas 71 near Tucker Hill Lane in Bastrop County, according to TxDOT.
TxDOT officials said in a statement that their thoughts are with the families and coworkers of those killed. The agency reminded drivers to use caution in construction zones, pay attention to signs, drive to conditions, avoid distractions and never drive impaired.
The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Elgin Courier said it will provide updates as more information becomes available.
