Democrats won control of Congress in Tuesday's 2026 midterm elections, the Associated Press reported. Democrats flipped at least seven Senate seats, including in Texas, and more than two dozen House districts.

In Texas, Democrat Gina Hinojosa won the governor's race, flipping a Republican-held office. Democrats also won governor's races in Georgia, Ohio and Iowa, AP said.

President Donald Trump said Democrats "did a good job" in their campaigns and blamed Republican candidates for the losses, AP reported. AP also reported, citing an anonymous source, that House Speaker Mike Johnson will not seek reelection as House Republican leader.
