Huntsville expects to choose a consultant as soon as January to study impact fees on new development. The city has budgeted $750,000 for the study.

City Council members pressed staff on Tuesday to move before the city takes on more than $164 million in water and wastewater projects over the next five years.

City Engineer Kathlie Jeng-Bulloch and Kendall Ryan of the consulting firm Freese and Nichols presented an updated utility master plan at a council workshop before the regular meeting. It is the city's first full update since its 2016 water and wastewater condition and capacity studies.
