The Sam Houston Memorial Museum and Republic of Texas Presidential Library is preparing a $500,000 fundraising campaign to rebuild facilities destroyed or damaged in a fire.

The fire, on Sept. 23, destroyed the museum's pottery shed and glassblowing shed. It severely damaged its woodworking workshop.

The buildings were used for maintenance, daily operations and historical demonstrations.
