The New Braunfels ISD Education Foundation has named three graduates of New Braunfels High School as 2026 Distinguished Unicorn Alumni. The honorees are Marlon Boarnet, class of 1980, Kevin Webb, class of 1986, and Jennifer Owens Tharp, class of 1996. The recognition honors graduates who have made significant contributions to their professions, communities and beyond.
The honorees were celebrated at a dinner at the McKenna Events Center on Oct. 26. They were also recognized on the field during the New Braunfels High School football game on Oct. 30.
Boarnet works in urban planning, transportation and higher education. The story says he has been a faculty member at the University of Southern California since 2012, and that he earned a physics degree from Rice University in 1984 and a Ph.D. in public policy from Princeton University. Webb played football at the school and was a member of the 1985 Unicorn team, which won 13 consecutive games and advanced to the state semifinals.
