A Harris County grand jury indicted a federal immigration agent on Friday, according to District Attorney Sean Teare. The indictment follows an Oct. 10 vehicle pursuit in Houston.

Teare said his office reviewed footage showing an unmarked patrol vehicle striking Miguel Parra-Hernandez, 48. He said agent Mario Alberto Morales faces a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with the vehicle named as the weapon. Teare said the evidence was as clear as any case he had prosecuted or investigated.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business shows two men running in different directions through a parking lot, with a black SUV following one of them, according to Teare's office. Teare's office also shared body camera footage from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement showing Morales getting out of his vehicle after the pedestrian's legs were run over.

ICE said agents were searching for a man named Jose Mendoza-Cervantes, who had a deportation order, and believed he was in the same truck as Parra-Hernandez. Mendoza-Cervantes's daughter told the New York Times that her father died nearly a decade ago. The story is developing and may be updated.
