Democratic challenger Tanya Lloyd held an early lead over incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Michael Cloud on Tuesday night in the race for Texas' 27th Congressional District, according to unofficial results from the Texas Secretary of State's Office. Lloyd had 39,495 votes, or 57.73%, and Cloud had 28,917 votes, or 42.27%. Independent write-in candidate Wayne Raasch had no votes recorded in the initial returns.

At the time of the report, 48 of Texas' 254 counties, or 18.9%, had submitted returns. That figure covers the state as a whole and does not show how many counties in the district had reported. Additional results were expected as counties continued to report.

This is the second straight general election matchup between Lloyd, of Lockhart, and Cloud, of Victoria. In 2024, Cloud defeated Lloyd with about 66% of the vote to Lloyd's 34%. Cloud has represented the district since winning a special election in 2018 and has won reelection in every cycle since. The district includes Victoria and portions of the Texas Coastal Bend. Raasch, an independent write-in candidate from Lissie, is also seeking the seat.
