A Collin County jury sentenced Lindsey Elizabeth Post, 36, to five years in state prison. Post pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of improper relationship between educator and student. She worked as an athletic trainer at McKinney North High School.
The trial was held in the 366th District Court before Judge Tom Nowak. The defense asked for probation, and prosecutors asked for prison time. After a day and a half of deliberation, jurors gave five years in prison for one sexual assault count. They gave three years, probated to 10 years of community supervision, for the second assault count. They gave two years, probated to 10 years of community supervision, for the improper relationship count. Post must register as a sex offender for life and is subject to a lifetime protective order, according to the court.
Testimony showed that Post began contact with the girl in the fall of 2025, when the girl was a freshman athlete seeing Post for a sports injury. Prosecutors said Post abused the girl multiple times over several months. They cited 66,000 pages of text messages as evidence that Post knew her actions were wrong. The defense said Post needs help that she may not get in prison. A sex-offender expert testified that Post has a "low risk" of reoffending.
