Border Patrol agents found 23 people in the country without authorization, including six unaccompanied children, hidden inside several vans at a checkpoint along Interstate 35 in Laredo, according to the agency. The agency said the incident happened Sept. 22, when a car hauler driver tried to pass through the checkpoint.
Border Patrol said the van windows were closed and there was no air flow. No one was hurt. The driver faces federal charges for human trafficking, according to the report. The 23 people were processed for deportation.
