SLR Food Distribution Inc. said it is voluntarily recalling Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon because it could contain elevated levels of lead, according to a recall alert. The product was sold in retail and grocery stores between Sept. 8, 2025, and June 28, 2026, in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The recall notice said lead exposure can affect nearly every bodily system, and that effects depend on dosage, duration, and a person's age and weight. It also said low-level, short-term exposure may not cause immediate symptoms. The alert said no illnesses have been reported to date.
Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled product. They can throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
