The Hill Country Council for the Arts, known as HCCArts, and the Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild have worked together for several years on the Stocking Stuffer program. Guild members make custom handmade stockings. HCCArts board members and community members fill them with personal item donations from residents and local businesses during an afternoon social.
The stockings go to clients of the Kendall County Women's Shelter and the Hill Country Pregnancy Center. The organizers said children in the area are covered by other programs, so the group chose to focus on the moms and women the two organizations serve. This year's goal is 160 stockings.
Donations can be mailed as cash or check to HCCArts, c/o Stocking Stuffer Program, P.O. Box 2024, Boerne, Texas 78006. People who want to give in person can contact Paula Horner at 210-269-8349. Boerne residents can sponsor a handmade stocking and its filling with a $100 donation.
