The family of George Foreman is preparing to sell the former estate of the boxer, minister and businessman for $6 million. Foreman died at age 76 in Houston a little more than 18 months ago. The property is at 29310 Martelly Way in the Commons at Lake Houston community, northeast of Houston.
Real estate agent Evan Compean, of the Compean Group, said the family expects to list the 11,968-square-foot main home this week. The 13.5-acre property includes an 11,000-square-foot garage that once held Foreman's collection of 40 luxury cars, a dog kennel and yard, a pond, and a hair salon built for his wife, Mary Joan Martelly.
Foreman's daughter, Natalie Foreman, said the home feels empty without him. She said she hopes a future buyer will host the family's holiday and summer gatherings. Natalie Foreman said her parents moved to the Huffman home in the early 2000s, after the car collection outgrew their home in Kingwood. Boxing memorabilia that was once displayed in the home's gym has been removed from the property for security reasons.
