A vehicle crashed into a building early Sunday along North Earl Rudder Freeway in Bryan, according to the Bryan Fire Department. Crews were called to the 2289 block around 5:32 a.m. Dispatch told firefighters while they were on the way that fires had started at the location.
The vehicle struck the corner of an unoccupied duplex unit and hit several parked vehicles, the department said. The crash set fire to several vehicles and an adjacent mobile home. Occupants of the mobile home got out safely before firefighters arrived. Crews put out the flames and kept them from spreading to nearby structures.
Three residents and two pets were displaced. Officials said the residents are getting help from family and friends. No injuries were reported. The adjoining unit of the duplex was not affected. The cause of the crash is under investigation by local authorities.
