The Pirate Band competed Saturday, Oct. 24, at the UIL Area E Marching Contest held at Alice High School. It was the band's ninth straight trip to the contest.
One of the five judges ranked the band 3rd in marching. After all 29 bands performed and the scores were totaled, the band's final ranking was 11th. Only the top 10 bands advanced to finals this year.
The band's marching season has ended. The Devine News said it is proud of the progress the band made this year.
