LifeLong Learning — San Marcos will hold a free session on the interactions of Central Texas plants and animals from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the San Marcos Public Library. It is the third session in the group's "A Potpourri of Presentations" series, and the public is invited.

Presenter Mike Quinn has studied ornithology, botany and entomology in Texas. He holds wildlife and entomology degrees from Texas A&M and has worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and the Natural Gardener in Austin. Quinn will discuss how data is collected to identify these relationships and how participants can use iNaturalist to identify plants and animals.

Quinn said the Monarch Butterfly, the Golden-cheeked Warbler and the Mexican Free-tailed Bat show the connections among local species. LifeLong Learning director Stephanie Korcheck said participants will leave better informed. Registration is appreciated for room setup. Details are at LLLsanmarcos.org/courses.

The final session in the series is set for Nov. 12. Stephanie Korcheck, a former policy analyst for the Texas Senate Education Committee, will preview the 2027 Texas legislative session.
