Jordan Shannon completed 20 of 22 passes for 240 yards and four touchdowns as Hitchcock beat La Grange 43-7 in a District 12-4A-D2 football game Friday at Bulldog Stadium. Tedrick Charles also threw a touchdown pass, and Jaydin Freeman ran for another.
Hitchcock head coach Craig Smith praised Shannon's performance and said the team had asked its players to step up. He said the Bulldogs would make their 13th consecutive trip to the playoffs. Hitchcock finished the regular season at 5-5 overall and 3-2 in district, in a three-way tie for second place with La Grange and La Marque. Hitchcock needed to win by at least 13 points to finish third in that tie.
Bellville, at 7-3 overall and 5-0 in district, won the district title. It beat Brazosport 63-26 on Friday. Hitchcock will play District 11-4A-D2 runner-up Houston Wheatley in the first round of the playoffs next week.
