Turnout among Latino voters ages 18 to 29 in Harris County tripled compared to the 2018 midterm elections, according to the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

Ashley Barahona, a University of Houston education student, said immigration policies were among the reasons she decided to vote. She said she is concerned about what those policies could mean for her family.

Dr. Sergio Lira of LULAC said concerns about immigration enforcement motivated younger generations, particularly children of immigrants. He also said homeownership, rising rents, property taxes and gas prices were concerns for Latino voters, affecting families' ability to afford homes, commute to work and pay for college.
