Acting 31st District Attorney Leslie Timmons was the guest speaker at a monthly meeting of the Top 'O Texas Republican Women. She talked about her background and her role in the county so far. TOTRW President Kathryn Green introduced her.

Green said Governor Abbott appointed Timmons as District Attorney for the 31st Judicial District of Texas in May. Before that, Timmons served 13 years as Wheeler County Attorney and 11 years as Roberts County Attorney, according to Green. Green said Timmons earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 1993 and a law degree from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 1996.

Green said the district attorney prosecutes serious criminal offenses, works with law enforcement and advocates for crime victims. Timmons said her first legal job was as Assistant County Attorney in Hemphill County, starting in March 1997. She said she later was sworn in as Roberts County Attorney in January 2001.
