A Polk County grand jury has indicted Cody Allen Laviolette for murder in the death of Kelly Taylor Mariah Little, a 31-year-old mother of three, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. The indictments were returned Friday after detectives presented evidence. The sheriff's office said the investigation began after an incident at Laviolette's home on May 23, where Little and her three children lived.
Laviolette was indicted on a first-degree felony murder charge and a third-degree felony charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. District Judge Travis Kitchens set bond at $500,000 on the murder charge and $50,000 on the evidence charge. The sheriff's office said the two indictments bring Laviolette's total to 16 felony charges, with bonds totaling $5.4 million. He remains in the Polk County Jail. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The sheriff's office said detectives believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Captain Craig Finegan or Detective Jessi Stanton at (936) 327-6810. Little's obituary says she died May 24 in Conroe. Her family described her as generous, kind and devoted to her children.
