The Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs will play at the Lovelady Lions on Friday in a District 14-2A game. Corrigan, Leon and Lovelady are in a three-way race for the top spot. Corrigan and Lovelady each have 6-3 overall records and 4-1 district marks, and both have already qualified for the playoffs. A Bulldogs win would give them at least a share of the district title. They could win it outright depending on Leon's game against Groveton.
Corrigan has won three straight, including a 28-21 overtime win over Normangee last week. The Bulldogs opened the season 1-2. Bulldogs head coach Brett Ratliff said, "I had an idea this season was going to be very competitive in district, and it definitely played out that way."
Lovelady beat Iola 41-7 last week and has district wins over Groveton, Centerville and Normangee. Its only district loss came against Leon, 15-8. First-year head coach Jim Bird leads the Lions. Ratliff said his team has scrimmaged Lovelady the past two years. The game is set for 7 p.m. in Lovelady and ends the regular season for both teams before the playoffs begin the following week.
