Alyssa Cigarroa and incumbent Mayor Victor Trevino will meet in a December runoff, according to unofficial final results. No candidate reached 50 percent in the five-candidate race for Laredo mayor. Cigarroa has 36 percent and Trevino has 32 percent.
Cigarroa said she is humbled and grateful for voters' trust. She said her priorities are securing a reliable water supply, strengthening infrastructure and expanding economic opportunities and access to higher-paying jobs. Trevino said he would keep the same platform for the runoff. He pointed to his record on basic services, including replaced water pipes and backup water sources.
The runoff is set for Saturday, Dec. 12. Both campaigns have just over a month to prepare.
