Elon Musk spent at least $445 million to help Republicans keep control of Congress, according to the Associated Press. Democrats won control of Congress on Tuesday, and Democrats in Congress have signaled interest in investigating Musk's companies and his work at the Department of Government Efficiency.

In Texas, Musk spent at least $5 million to help reelect Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who lost to Democrat Gina Hinojosa. Musk-linked spending of $158 million effectively benefited Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, who lost his U.S. Senate race to Democrat James Talarico. The AP reported that Democrats also won control of the Texas House.

Gene Wu, chairman of the state legislature's Democratic Caucus, said, "This era of open corruption is going to come to an end." The AP Voter Poll of more than 5,000 Texas voters found that slightly more than half of voters had an unfavorable opinion of Musk.
