Texas voters will decide who leads the state for the next four years in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. Republican Gov. Greg Abbott is facing Democratic challenger Gina Hinojosa. Abbott is seeking a fourth term after serving as governor since 2015. Hinojosa is a Democratic state representative. Libertarian candidate Pat Dixon is also running.
The governor serves as the state's chief executive. The office signs or vetoes bills passed by the Legislature, oversees state agencies and makes appointments to state boards and commissions.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Early voting is set for Oct. 19 through Oct. 30.
