Texas State football coach GJ Kinne said Tuesday he is focused only on Saturday's game against Boise State. His name came up as a possible replacement after Baylor fired head coach Dave Aranda last week.
Kinne took over at Texas State in 2022 at age 34, after a 12-2 season at Incarnate Word. The Bobcats have averaged 35 points every season since, and they have won three bowl games under him. They have finished above .500 in every season since he was hired.
Texas State is 4-3 and plays Boise State (6-1) and Oregon State (5-2) in the coming weeks. The Bobcats beat Utah State 20-17 last week. Kinne said, "I can promise you I can't think about anything else or we'll get killed."
