Texas Tech forward Jamichael Stillwell filed a lawsuit against the NCAA on Friday, November 6. The suit asks the Lubbock County District Court to grant an immediate injunction that would allow him to play for the Red Raiders through the rest of the 2026-27 season. Texas Tech opened its season on November 2 against Jackson State and is 2-0.

Stillwell's legal team argues that each game he misses is an opportunity he cannot get back. The team said Stillwell was previously granted an injunction in Georgia earlier this year, but the NCAA obtained a stay in that case. That led him to seek another injunction in a different state.

Stillwell was also granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA. The order makes him eligible to play in the short term, starting with the team's game against No. 3 Illinois on Tuesday, November 10.
