Democrat Gina Hinojosa defeated Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in the November 3, 2026, general election, according to preliminary Associated Press results reported early Wednesday.
If the results hold, Hinojosa would become Texas' first Latina elected governor and the first Democrat to win the office in more than three decades. The AP results showed Hinojosa with 5,057,741 votes.
