Unofficial county returns show Jonathan Hale ahead of Albert Choate in the Galveston navigation district race.
Jonathan Hale had 5,205 votes, or 52.56%, and Albert Choate had 4,698 votes, or 47.44%, according to unofficial election returns from the Galveston County Elections Division.
The returns are unofficial and may change before the results are certified.
