Alaia White says her 3-year-old daughter came home from Forest Crossing KinderCare in The Woodlands missing a front tooth and with a mark on her chin. White said she brushed her daughter's teeth before daycare on Oct. 14 and noticed nothing wrong. She said her daughter told her that a teacher broke her tooth and threw it in the trash. White said daycare staff told her the next morning that they did not know anything, and that the child did not cry and no blood was noticed.

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services confirmed it is investigating an allegation of abuse at the center. White said she reported her concerns to the agency on Oct. 15. DFPS spokesperson Melissa Lanford said the agency is working to determine whether abuse or neglect occurred. Lanford said the findings will be sent to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, which licenses and regulates daycare facilities in the state.

KinderCare said its internal review found no evidence the child lost her tooth at the center. Dental records White shared with FOX 26 describe the tooth as "avulsed," meaning it was completely knocked out of its socket. The dentist's notes identify trauma as the most likely cause and mention possible damage to the permanent tooth that will replace the baby tooth.
