Cigarroa has clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 2006, according to KGNS. The Toros finished 0-10 last season, their third straight season with that record.
Under first-year head coach Benny Ellison, the team opened the season with an early win over Hidalgo Early College. It lost the following week to rival Nixon, then won four of its next seven games. A 29-28 victory over the Gladiators in Week 11, against Roma, put the Toros in the playoffs.
The team now waits to learn its first-round playoff opponent.
