Unofficial results released by the Hays County Elections Office at 7:10 p.m. show Democrats leading across the county. According to the results, the party's candidates topped 60% in most contested statewide races, and Democrats took nearly two of every three votes in several of the largest races on the ballot, including statewide and local contests. Election Day votes had not yet been counted.
The county reported 98,341 voters had participated in early voting, or 48.13% of registered voters. That total approached the 105,941 early and absentee ballots cast in the 2024 presidential election. It was also far higher than the 66,177 votes cast during early voting in the 2022 midterm election.
The county said Election Day numbers were still to be reported. Statewide race figures include only votes cast in Hays County.
