The Marfa City Council will hold a public hearing on Nov. 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Casner Room at City Hall. The hearing covers proposed amendments to Planning and Zoning Ordinance 02-04. The notice said the changes are meant to address housing affordability and increase housing opportunities.

The proposals would remove the mixed-use prohibition in Article 1, Section 5. They would also introduce form-based area rules for dwellings in districts other than the R-1 Single Family Residential District, relax street frontage requirements for dwellings in commercial and industrial districts, and require all dwelling units to have one or more off-street parking spaces. Residents and property owners can comment at the hearing or by email to asalgado@cityofmarfa.com. The full text of the amendments and the Planning & Zoning Commission's recommendation report are posted at cityofmarfa.com.
