Cody Vasquez, director of academic engagement at Midland College, has been elected to the board of directors of the International College Learning Center Association (ICLCA). The national group supports academic support services and student success in higher education. Vasquez is the only board member who represents Texas. His term runs two years, through 2028.
He was sworn in during the association's annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, in September, according to a news release. As a board member, Vasquez will help guide the group's strategic direction and support efforts to advance professional standards for learning support in colleges and universities.
Vasquez said serving on the board is a valuable experience and that he is glad to represent Midland College and Texas. He also holds the ICLCA Learning Center Leadership Certification, a credential for professional development in leading academic support programs.
