Sherman County Republican Chairman Susie Spurlock said the county Republican primary election results were canvassed. In the three-way race, no candidate received the majority needed, which is 50 percent plus one vote.
Spurlock outlined the procedure for a tie for second place. An automatic recount would be held under the Texas Election Code. If the tie remains, the tied candidates would cast lots to decide who advances to the primary runoff. The automatic recount is set for Monday, March 16, 2026, at 3 p.m. in the Sherman County Election Room. Either tied candidate may request a manual recount in writing to the party chair by 2:45 p.m. that day.
The tied candidates are named as Tim and Rustin. If lots are needed, they would be drawn by a domino draw, and both candidates must agree to the game. Chris Riffe is listed as the other candidate on the runoff ballot.
