The Forney Animal Shelter has named Gretchen, a nine-year-old dog, as its Animal of the Week. The shelter said she is waiting for a forever home.
When Gretchen arrived at the shelter, she needed a full shave because of severe matting. Her coat is in the early stages of growing back. Shelter staff said her appearance has not affected her spirit. They described her as playful, loving and eager to meet new people, with a gentle disposition.
