Quitman ISD trustees approved buying 291 Chromebooks for the next school year from IT Director Colby Bridges at a cost of $108,617.45. Bridges said the devices would be split among the high school, junior high and elementary school, and that the district must recycle the Chromebooks.

The board accepted two donations. Quitman Elementary School received $4,817.38 from the QISD Education Foundation. The Quitman Athletic Booster Club donated $2,406.60 for Lady Bulldog basketball travel expenses.

Trustees also approved an interlocal agreement with Region 10 for food service purchases, which financial administrator Kari Wilson said covers a larger area. They approved an agreement with Wood County for ad valorem tax collections, set at $34,524, up $564 from last year, according to Wilson. Superintendent Chris Mason presented an elementary and secondary book order, which the board approved. Mason said each book was checked against the district's standards and there was no price involved. In his report, Mason praised cross country and volleyball teams for advancing past district competition, the football team's chance to make the state playoffs, and the band's straight Division I ratings.
