Developers and project partners held a grand opening ceremony for Saddle Creek Village, a low-income housing complex, on Nov. 6. The complex is at 15960 Kuykendahl Road in Houston. Construction began in November 2024, and residents have been able to apply for housing since March, according to Natalie Foglio, operations coordinator for Stewardship Development.

The complex offers one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for families earning 60% or less of the area median income. It also includes units for households earning 30% and 50% of the area median income. Foglio said the apartments have energy-efficient appliances and that disability-accessible units are available. The project is a collaboration between Harris County Housing Finance Corp., Harris County Housing & Community Development and Stewardship Development. The development received partial funding through the American Rescue Plan Act and is a 9% tax credit project, Community Impact reported earlier. According to the complex's website, it has an after-school learning center, a playground, bike storage and two dog parks.

Tory Gunsolley, chief programs officer for Harris County Housing & Community Development, said at the event that the county has a great need for affordable housing. Stewardship Development Board Chairman Bill Syrios said the complex is meant to serve families for generations.
