Hundreds of supporters of James Talarico gathered on the patio outside the Long Center for the Performing Arts late Tuesday, according to KUT News. Talarico was declared the winner of the Texas Senate race.

In a speech, Talarico called the win "the size of Texas" and said it was time to start "flipping tables." He said he would take the movement to the United States Senate.

Democrat Gina Hinojosa will become the first Latina to serve as Texas governor, KUT reported. Democrat Vikki Goodwin will take the lieutenant governor post when statewide officials are sworn in during January. KUT published a photo snapshot of election night across Austin.
